Genovese Pesto Sauce

Pesto is a condiment or sauce typical of Liguria (Italy). Its main ingredient is basil. In addition to basil, garlic and pine nuts are ground to create a smooth sauce with a pronounced basil flavour.
Pesto sauce goes perfectly with other sauces such as tomato sauce or béchamel-style cream sauces. It can enhance salad dressings and is a perfect accompaniment to sun-dried tomatoes, cheese and pasta.
